As this system is is a portable unit, it's important to mention that it isn't designed to be permanently plumbed into a mains water supply. It's made to be connected to a mains water supply as needed, and then disconnected when not in use. It is also important to note that it also produces wastewater during the filtration process, so you'll need a drain or secondary container to collect the waste water when filtering. For every litre of filtered water, it produces between 1 to 1.5 litres of wastewater, which can be safely discarded or repurposed for other uses, such as watering plants but as it is waste water and contains contaminants, it is not suitable for drinking.

The chlorine in the water plays a vital role in eliminating bacteria, fungi, and yeast. Failure to sanitize the water properly can lead to biofouling of the RO membrane. This means that a colony of bacteria, fungus, or slime could start growing within the membrane. Consequently, this could spoil your filter system and damage the RO membrane beyond repair.
The same warning applies to rainwater and tank water sources. If you're planning to use RO to filter groundwater sources like a bore or spring, a comprehensive water analysis must be carried out beforehand. Please note that we do not advise using any combination of filters to make untreated and untested water sources (such as river, stream, creek, lake, or dam water) safe to drink.

To effectively sanitize your water, HydroSil should be dosed at a rate of 200mL per 1000L of water. For smaller tanks, this scales down to 20mL per 100L.
